New Madras Cost 'Will Go Up'

The cost of a new Madras College in St Andrews is expected to exceed £40million.

Fife Council admits the price tag has increased due to inflation.

Yesterday a Judge at the Court of Session rejected an appeal by campaigners to block a new school being built on green belt land.

Opponents STEPAL says they're considering an appeal because they still have concerns about the council's decision.

Councillor Bryan Poole says it's still too early to commit to a building timescale:

The current buildings over two sites, at Kilrymont and in the town centre, are in a state of disrepair.
