New investment at Aberdour Silver Sands

Visitors will benefit from some fresh investment in the run up to summer.

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT), which manages and maintains Aberdour Silver Sands beach, is investing £5,000 received from Fife Council in additional staff, training and safety materials.

A dedicated beach patrol officer will now be on site during the day from April to October, to add to the two lifeguards in the summer months. They, along with other staff on site, will be responsible for reminding visitors to be careful in the water and to watch out for soft sand at low tide.

New signage, posters, information cards, flags and public rescue equipment units are included as part of the additional safety measures.

Robbie Blyth, Coastal Team Leader at FCCT said:

"Silver Sands is an incredibly popular multi-award winning beach and we want everyone to enjoy their visit. Part of that is being safe and with this latest investment we want to increase visitors’ awareness of safety considerations and their responsibilities.

"We would advise all visitors to take a moment to read the new safety materials and, if unsure of anything, speak to the beach patrol or lifeguards".

Aberdour Silver Sands, part of the Fife Coastal Path, holds a number of national accolades, including three stars from VisitScotland and Loo of the Year Award status as well as Blue Flag, Seaside Resort, Green Flag awards from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
