FLYERS: Another Komet Comes To Kirkcaldy

Fife Flyers have signed another former Fort Wayne Komets star for the upcoming season.

Scott Fleming is the latest Kirkcaldy Komet, following in the skates of Bobby Chaumont and Chris Auger.

The 26 year old left winger from Plainfield, Ontario spent last season in the ECHL and AHL playing for the Fort Wayne Komets and the Worcester Sharks. 

Fleming spent 4 years in the NCAA playing for Dartmouth College, where he iced alongside Matt Reber, before joining the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL in 2011/12.

He finished last season with 51 points from 66 games, with 16 goals and 35 assists,

Fleming was talked into playing for the Kirkcaldy side after talking to Reber, and said he's "really excited" to play in Fife.

He said: "I knew I wanted to go to Europe this season, but had no clue where until I talked to the coaches and Matt Reber about his experience. I was sold right away on coming to Fife after speaking to them. It seems like a great place to play with unbelievable fans and I just cannot wait to get there to help the team succeed in whatever way possible."

Associate Coach Danny Stewart added: “Scott is a fantastic find for us. He's a natural and skilled centre that can play in all situations. He’s great on both ends of the puck and creative going forward. On top of all that he provides us with a very good face off guy which will provide a lot more possession for us.” 

“Scott had an above average college career at Dartmouth and although he missed some time due to an injury, he came back last season and had a fantastic first year pro which seen him rewarded with a call up to the AHL.” 

“We feel he's only going to get better in his second year and hopefully the Fife Flyers will reap the benefits of that.”

Flyers Head Coach Todd Dutiaume added: “I feel that adding Scott to the line-up gives us an exceptional middle. Having him with Auger and Stewart makes us stronger. Scott’s game, particularly his speed will be a big asset on the big ice surfaces we play on, and especially on home ice.” 

“Our forward lines look well balanced and this signing not only gives us more options but makes us a lot more dangerous offensively.”
