New coronavirus cases associated with 11 schools in Fife

Health officials in Fife have confirmed new coronavirus cases associated with 11 schools in the Kingdom.

Contact tracing is under way after new cases were confirmed since NHS Fife's last update on Saturday.

Auchmuty High School - Glenrothes

  • Four positive cases associated with the school

Glenrothes High School

  • One positive case associated with the school

Kinglassie Primary School

  • One positive case associated with the school

Levenmouth Academy

  • One positive case associated with the school

Methilhill Primary School

  • One positive case associated with the school

Pathhead Primary School, Kirkcaldy

  • One positive case associated with the school

Queen Anne High School, Dunfermline

  • One positive case associated with the school

St Kenneth’s RC Primary School, Ballingry

  • One positive case associated with the school

Viewforth High School, Kirkcaldy

  • One positive case associated with the school

Warout Primary School, Glenrothes

  • Two positive cases associated with the school

Woodmill High School, Dunfermline

  • One positive cases associated with the school

A statement said: "Where there is more than one confirmed case, this does not necessarily suggest transmission within the school and may relate to a sibling or household group, or it may be separate incidences of community-acquired infection.

"There are a number of useful resources available for parents in Fife, with information on how best to reduce the chances of your family contracting the virus and what you should do if someone in the household develops symptoms. These can be accessed at: www.nhsfife.org/news-updates/campaigns/coronavirus-information/information-for-parents/.

"Furthermore, Fife Council has made a comprehensive list of questions and answers available for parents and carers at: www.fife.gov.uk/schoolcovidfaqs.                                               

"Anyone with any one or more of the symptoms should immediately self-isolate and order a test on the NHS inform website www.nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816."
