MSPs Return To Holyrood

It's back to business at Holyrood following the independence referendum on Thursday.

First Minister Alex Salmond will address the packed Chamber this afternoon, just days after he announced his intention to step down in November.

Holyrood's Presiding Officer says Scotland's record-breaking voter turnout in the referendum has created opportunities but also signficant challenges for political parties and institutions in Scotland.

Tricia Marwick will lead the Time for Reflection slot this afternoon on the first sitting of the Scottish Parliament, post-referendum.

She says the 84%  turnout rate on Thursday showed an unprecedented engagement in the democratic process.

Ms Marwick says we all need to commit to changing out cultures to ensure those that have now engaged can make their voices heard in the future.
