Motorbike Charges in Central Fife

Police have cautioned and charged a 15-year-old and a 30-year-old in East Wemyss as part of a renewed crackdown on the illegal use of quad bikes and motorcycles in the Levenmouth area.

The teenager was charged with riding a quad bike in the East Wemyss Cemetery. The man was charged with riding a motorcycle whilst disqualified, without valid documentation and without a crash helmet on Main Avenue, East Wemyss.

Officers have launched a new Local Action Plan under the Operation name ‘Reflector’ to tackle the problem in the Levenmouth  area.

Levenmouth area ward officer, PC Alan Shovlin said: "As well as issuing Anti-Social Behaviour warnings and reports to the Procurator Fiscal, we have also gathered useful information about regular offenders.

“We will continue to take action in the area and deal with people who ride their motorcycles and quads illegally." 

Inspector Tom Brown said: "Our local action plan ‘Reflector’ replaces previous plans but the ethos is the same - to prosecute offenders who persist in the illegal, dangerous and anti-social use of motorbikes and quads in public places”. 

"My Area Ward Officers will be using every piece of legislation at their disposal to ensure that those involved in illegal use of motorcycles are caught. They also face the prospect of having their motorcycles seized.

“I would encourage local people to continue to contact us with any information they have that will assist us in keeping people safe."
