Most Big Firms 'Don't Meet' Living Wage Standards

Many large employers in Scotland don't pay the Living Wage, according to a new study.

Analysis from the BBC suggests only 10 of the 50 largest firms here pay all staff and contractors at least £7.85 an hour.

Diageo, which has a large plant in Leven, says it pays employees the rate or above- with the exception of tourism staff and 1st year apprentices at college. 

BAE systems and Babcock, two other significant Fife-based businesses named in the survey, say they pay their direct staff no less than £7.85 per hour.
