Mobile Covid-19 testing unit visiting coastal communities in Fife

A Covid-19 mobile testing unit is set to visit a number of Fife's coastal towns and villages over the next month.

Residents in Kinghorn, Burnisland, Aberdour, Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing will be able to get tested even if they do not have symptoms.

The facility will be available to use on a drop-in basis - without an appointment.

Confidential support will also be available for anyone who may need to self-isolate.

The unit will be at:

· Kinghorn Community Centre – Mondays: 28th June, 5th July, 12th July

· Links Car Park, Burntisland –Tuesdays: 22nd June, 29th June, 6th July, 13th July

· Aberdour Community Centre – Wednesdays: 23rd June, 30th June, 7th July, 14th July

· Dalgety Bay Leisure Centre – Thursdays: 24th June, 1st July, 8th July, 15th July

· Civic Centre, Inverkeithing – Fridays: 25th June, 2nd July, 9th July, 16th July

The sites will open from 9am to 3.30pm.

Duncan Fortescue-Webb, NHS Fife consultant in public health and testing lead, said: "We encourage everyone to take up regular community testing.

"The mobile testing unit will move between Kinghorn, Burntisland, Aberdour, Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing over the next month, and is open to everyone living, working, or visiting in these areas.

"We know that around one in three people with Covid-19 don’t have symptoms but are still infectious and able to pass the virus on to loved ones, friends and the wider community.

"By getting tested regularly, you’ll be able to find out if you have the virus even if you feel fine. If you are positive you can then take immediate action to stop the spread of the virus to others by self-isolating.

"Support is also available to assist you and your household, from food parcels to financial advice and support."
