Man Seriously Hurt After Dog Attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 60-year-old man was attacked by a dog in Fife.

It happened on Tuesday morning in the Cults area, near Pitlessie.

The victim was walking in the area when he was attacked by a large wolfhound dog - similar to a Borzoi.

He was left with a serious - and permanent - arm injury.

Police say the owner was there with another two dogs of a similar breed.

He was aware of the attack, but made off without offering to help.

PC Jayne Thompson, leading the enquiry, said: "This was a particularly vicious and unprovoked attack which has left the victim with a serious and permanent injury.

"I would appeal to all dog owners to ensure they act responsibly when walking their dogs and keep them under control at all times.”

Officers want witnesses to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
