Kirkcaldy Foodbank worried about major drop in supplies, amid public 'panic buying'

The Chair of Kirkcaldy Foodbank is urging shoppers to keep supplies coming in, as Kingdom FM News has learned it is experiencing a major reduction in donations.

The foodbank has seen an increase in demand during the last week, amid the ongoing coronavirus situation.

It has also struggled to bring in UHT milk and some tinned goods for its stock.

Joyce Leggate is concerned about the situation and warns that the foodbank might not be able to make supplies to those in need.

That's unless the public play its part in regularly donating items to ensure supplies can be made to those asking for help.

The foodbank normally receives supplies from donations made to designated shopping trolleys in supermarkets across Kirkcaldy.

She said: "I would really appeal to members of the public that if you are buying two or three of things, or even more of that, to just stop and think and drop something into the foodbank trolleys situated at all the supermarkets.

"We really, really can't survive without the donations from the public in Kirkcaldy."
