LISTEN: Concerns expressed by parent council chair ahead of Fife school closures

The chairperson of a Glenrothes parent council has been telling Kingdom FM News about her concerns ahead of Fife's schools and nurseries closing today.

Issues for parents and carers like childcare, resource availability, as well as what can and can't be done have been highlighted, amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced on Wednesday schools across Scotland will shut, because of a lack of staff to teach lessons.

Yesterday, Education Secretary John Swinney told the Scottish Parliament this year's exams have been cancelled.

Schools across the rest of the UK will also be closing.

Carrie Lindsay, Fife Council's Head of Education and Children's services, says plans are in place to make sure pupils' education continues.
