LISTEN AND WATCH: Scottish retail firm's managing director says business stands to get £150,000 less in coronavirus support grants

The managing director of a Scottish retail firm, which has a Kirkcaldy branch, has told Kingdom FM News the business stands to get £150,000 less in coronavirus support grants than initially expected.

Karen Forret from Wilkies is calling for grants in Scotland to be given per premises, like in England.

It's as opposed to just one payment per business north of the border.

She says the company will have to get much higher bank loans if they only get one payment for the whole business and fears re-opening after the pandemic eases will leave the firm more vulnerable.

Her aim is to protect her employees and the nation's High Streets.

Wilkies has 14 Scottish branches and one in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The company employs 131 people, 129 of whom are women.

It has been trading for 125 years.
