Links Market returns in Kirkcaldy after two cancellations amid coronavirus pandemic

The Links Market in Kirkcaldy for 2022 has opened today.

It was unable to take place in 2020 and 2021 due to coronavirus restrictions.

But this year's market is available for people to come and visit every day until this coming Monday (18 April).

Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the market in the town.

While parking restrictions are in place on nearby Links Street in the town, there are parking spaces available elsewhere, with the market only a short walking distance away.

Public transport links also serve Kirkcaldy town centre.

The market is around a mile long in the town's Esplanade, making it Europe's longest street fair.

It was first established more than 700 years ago in 1304.

The market is Scotland's oldest one.

Alex James Colquhoun, Chairman of the Scottish section of The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain, has expressed his excitement for the market's return.
