Labour starts search for new Scottish leader

Candidates are being invited to enter the race for the leadership of the Scottish Labour Party from today.

It follows the resignation of Johann Lamont on Friday - claiming her Westminster colleagues treated Labour in Scotland as a 'branch office'.

A new leader will be announced on December the 13th.

Former First Minister Lord McConnell says he's confident a good candidate will come forward,

Meanwehile, bookmaker William Hill has installed Jim Murphy as favourite to be the next leader at odds of 1/2.

The party's current deputy Anas Sarwar - who had been favourite - is now 4/1 with former PM Gordon Brown at 7/1.
