Kids Getting Enough PE

100% of S3 pupils in Fife are getting the required amount of exercise

Almost all children in the Kingdom are getting the minimum required amount of exercise at school.

100% of youngsters up to third year at secondary level are getting at least two hours or periods of PE per week. However, just 89% of S4s are hitting the Scottish Government target. SNP MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife Annabelle Ewing has welcomed the figures: "Physical education is the best possible way to promote and ensure a level of fitness for young people in Scotland. And it gives our athletes of the future a chance to excel at an early age – so these figures are a credit to our schools and teachers here in Fife.

“The continuing rise in the number of schools meeting PE provision - with 100% of Fife’s primary schools and S1-3 classes meeting the target - shows that Scotland’s children are becoming more active and Scotland is steadily becoming a healthier nation.

"These figures are a strong sign of the great progress that is being made in Scotland’s schools – only with the SNP can we continue to build on this progress and make Scotland’s education system even better.”
