Labour's UK leader Sir Keir Starmer has been speaking to Kingdom FM News ahead of an online public meeting for Fife voters this evening.

The meeting will take place over Zoom and before that, he will take part in a similar event for people in Glasgow.

It is scheduled to last for an hour and those taking part can put questions to the Labour leader.

He is expected to hear people's concerns about the coronavirus crisis, as well as listen to thoughts from voters about his party north of the border.

The Holborn and St Pancras MP says he doesn't intend to 'preach' to people.

He adds the road to a Labour government 'starts in Scotland'.

Sir Keir Starmer became the party's new leader last month, succeeding Jeremy Corbyn.

Our reporter Anas Hassan interviewed the new UK Labour leader this morning and you can hear him here, where he starts by talking about why he specifically wants to talk to voters in Fife:

Meanwhile, Angela Rayner MP was elected as the party's UK deputy leader at the same time when Sir Keir Starmer became leader.

Prior to today, he has held virtual meetings with key workers and small firms.

Similar events have also taken place involving representatives of the BAME community.

On Sir Keir Starmer talking to voters today, Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard MSP said: "I am delighted that Keir will be speaking to communities in Scotland this week.

"I know he recognises the importance of winning back the people of Scotland's trust and support.

"With the Scottish Parliament elections taking place in exactly a year's time, I'm looking forward to welcoming Keir and Angela Rayner to the campaign trail in Scotland as soon as the lockdown is lifted."
