Indyref: More Powers Pledged

Johann Lamont, Willie Rennie & Ruth Davidson

The leaders of the three main pro-union parties have come together to pledge more powers for Scotland if it rejects independence.

Labour, the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats in Scotland have presented a united front at an event in Edinburgh - promising change.

Opinion polls indicate the contest is on a knife edge.

Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont said:

"We will have certainty of change. It is possible to vote no on September 18th, but also to vote for change.

"More powers for the Scottish Parliament and that will give us the opportunity to look at the way in which we do our politics.

"It will be a final nail in the coffin of Alex Salmond."

Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson also spoke out in support of more powers:

Liberal Democrats leader Willie Rennie said:

"This will provide certainty, the certainty that people in Scotland have clearly expressed a desire to have.

"The Liberal Democrats have put our shoulder to the wheel on more powers for many years, many generations.

"In the last few years, that intensity has increased enormously."

First Minister Alex Salmond claims the 'no' camp is falling apart at the seams:
