"Impact Signing" Augers Well For Flyers

Fife Flyers "delighted" to welcome new boy Chris Auger to the Flyers roster for the upcoming season.

The 26 year old Canadian Centre joins the Kirkcaldy side from the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL, having been there for the past 3 seasons.

Auger played 68 times for the Komets last year, finishing the season with 55 points from 29 goals and 26 assists.

During the 2011/12 season Auger played alongside Flyers' Bobby Chaumont, helping the Komets win the Championship.

The 5’10 170lbs import was also selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Auger said he's "thrilled" to join Fife.

He said: "This will be my first experience playing in Europe and I'm excited for this chapter of my career. Fife seems like a great fit for me and I can't wait to get started and help bring a championship to the organisation and fans."

Flyers Associate Coach Danny Stewart said “This is an impact signing for us. Chris was a top 5 goal scorer in the ECHL last season and will provide us with another scoring threat up the middle.”

“His ability to score goals and play in all situations immediately makes us a better team and we are excited to see what he is capable of doing with the amount of opportunity and ice time he will have in Fife.

Flyers Head Coach Todd Dutiaume added “We looked at our middle and wanted to find not only an offensively productive individual but also an all-round player who has been on a championship winning side in the past. I feel we've found that in Chris and I look forward to seeing him mix in with our returning wingers.”
