Ice Bucket Challenge Pays Off

Charity welcomes cash boost which will help support motor neurone disease patients and their families.

The ice bucket challenge has helped to raise approximately £400, 000 for MND Scotland.

Motor neurone disease affects around 400 people north of the border and affects the nervous system.

Sufferers eventually experience muscle weakness, and can lose the ability to walk, talk, swallow and breath.

The disease can develop quickly, in some cases, and often leads to death.

Iain McWhirter from MND Scotland says the ice bucket challenge has done wonders to raise awareness.
