Ian Murray is the new Raith Rovers boss

Ian Murray has been appointed as the new manager of Raith Rovers after signing a two-year-contract at Stark's Park.

The 41-year-old has made the move from League One side Airdrieonians.

Murray led the North Lanarkshire club to four successive top half finishes in the third tier of Scottish football.

In the 2021/22 season, he took them to second place, but his side lost out to Queen's Park in the SPFL Championship play-off final.

Within that season, his team went on an undefeated run of 23 games.

Murray will take over from John McGlynn who recently left to become the new manager of Falkirk in League One.

Raith Rovers say Murray has proven himself as the "outstanding candidate in an extremely strong pool of interviewees for the role".

Steven MacDonald, the Raith Rovers chairman, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ian Murray to Raith Rovers as First Team Manager.

"Ian is a creative hardworking ambitious manager, with an ability and foresight to make changes at the appropriate time.

"Coupled with his determination to win, I feel we have made a great appointment and look forward to Ian bringing success to Raith Rovers."
