Helping Sick Children

Children's Ward staff at the Victoria Hospital

Donations to the Children's Ward at the Victoria Hospital reached more than £10, 000 during 2014.

NHS Fife says the cash, from kind-hearted locals, will help to create better experiences for youngsters of all ages who are admitted to the ward.

Amazon Dunfermline donated almost £5, 000 worth of gifts in the week before Christmas.

Paediatric Nurse Manager, Lana Clacher, said:

"I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to every single person who has made a donation to the Children's Ward throughout 2014. Every penny raised is put to good use and we invest all of our donations into making the experiences of our children more pleasant.

"We make it a priority to make our wards feel more like a home-from-home for the children as it can often be extremely daunting for a young person to come into a hospital environment. The donations we receive are utilised to benefit all age groups, from toddlers to teenagers, and every single penny we received throughout 2014 has helped ensure that any child who requires care from our ward will receive it in a child-friendly, welcoming environment.

"Once again I would like to thank each and every person who has donated to the Children’s Ward over the last year and I wish them the best for 2015."
