Have Your Say On Fife's Library Service

A consultation is open to the public

Over 2,000 people have taken part in an online survey into changes to the Fifes Library Service.

The proposals put forward by Fife Cultural Trust ask people how the revisions would impact the community.

One proposed closure could impact on 3,000 customers

Councillor Gavin Yates appreciates the good response rate so far but is not surprised by it.

He said: "Libraries services are hugely important to many people across Fife and the potential closure of such well-loved community facilities is not a decision we will take lightly.

However, the way people use libraries is changing and we need to make sure we respond to these changing trends to continue to offer a good quality service that’s fit for the future. People also understand the severe budget cuts that all public services are facing and Fife Cultural Trust is no exception to that pressure.

The Council’s Executive Committee will have tough decisions to make about what the future of that service will look like when we choose whether to progress with the proposals as they are, reject them, or make changes to them."
