'Guardian' Plans Draw More Criticism

A national church group has raised concerns over proposals for a state-appointed guardian for every child.

The Evangelical Alliance Scotland wants to discuss the SNP's proposal, over concerns it will diminish the role of parents.

The government insists that appointing a named person for every child will help ''provide a safety net for those who need one''.

The bill is due to be debated by Holyrood at its final stage on Wednesday.
