Go independent and lose the pound, says Osborne

Scotland will not be able to share the pound if it votes for independence.

Chancellor George Osborne issued the warning to voters ahead of September's referendum. Speaking in Edinburgh, he said the pound is not an asset that could be divided up after a "messy divorce". Mr Osborne said the issue exposed what he called 'the gaping chasm' at the core of the SNP's independence plans. Such a deal would "not work" and was "not going to happen", he said:
