Future Of Longannet Workers

Steps to lessen the impact of the planned closure of Longannet Power Station are expected to dominate a task force meeting today.

Fife Council, the Scottish Government and Scottish Power will meet in Edinburgh this afternoon to discuss ways of protecting employees, suppliers and the local economy.

It's estimated up to 1, 000 jobs are dependent on the coal-fired station which is scheduled to shut in March 2016.
