Further Forth Road Bridge diversion trials could take place in the second half of next year

Kingdom FM has learned that more diversion trials could take place on the Forth Road Bridge in the second half of next year.

It comes ahead of a trial taking place tonight to test measures incase the Queensferry Crossing needs to shut again in the future.

Although BEAR Scotland said last week that "further trials" would be needed, it didn't say when specifically.

The newer of the two bridges has had to close a number of times since its opening due to the effect of poor weather conditions.

Anas Hassan, our reporter, has been hearing from Chris Tracey of the organisation about the possibility of automatic barriers being used in future trials to help potentially speed up the diversion process:
