Further easing of non-essential travel restrictions between Scotland and north-west England set to take place

The easing of non-essential travel between Scotland and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council will take effect from Thursday

A ban on non-essential journeys between Scotland and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is set to be lifted.

This particular restriction will be eased as of tomorrow after it was implemented due to concerns over high coronavirus rates.

It's after a similar rule restricting non-essential travel between north of the border and Manchester, Salford and Bolton was recently removed.

Maree Todd MSP, the Scottish Government's Public Health Minister, said: "We have been carefully monitoring the situation in Scotland and across the common travel area, and following a weekly review we will ease travel arrangements between Scotland and Blackburn.

"Nobody wants travel restrictions in place for any longer than is absolutely necessary.

"Restrictions on non-essential travel between Scotland and parts of north west England were introduced in line with evidence, and have been removed as the situation has changed."
