Free Tennis Lessons From Murray

Judy Murray is giving free tennis lessons in Newport

Judy Murray, tennis coach and mum of British number one Andy, is holding free tennis lessons today.

She will be at Newport Tennis club this afternoon (Saturday 9th May) from 4.45 - 6pm with her coaching team. It's part of the 'Tennis on the Road' initiative, run by Fife council in conjunction with Royal Bank of Scotland. They hope to give parents, coaches, teachers and volunteers the tools needed to get kids active and help further kick-start and develop tennis in Scotland.

Mark Hood, Fife Council's executive member for sport and physical activity, said:

"It's a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved in sport and physical activity, in a sport that's very popular at the moment.

"Obviously it gives the local sports hub a great profile and will encourage a number of people along, families maybe, to participate in a sport they've never been involved in before. The more people we can get participating in sport in Fife the better, it's good for health and wellbeing. Having Judy Murray along to the event this weekend will be a huge boost ."
