Four more cases of coronavirus at a Fife secondary school

Four more people linked to Beath High School in Cowdenbeath have tested positive for coronavirus.

In a message to parents, rector Steve Ross said potential contacts were being traced.

He added that another update may be necessary if any other individuals or groups are identified who need to isolate.

The additional cases means the total in relation to the school has increased to eight who have contracted Covid-19.

Despite this, the school will remain open, but it intends to take further measures if needed.

Steve Ross said: "We have been working closely with colleagues in NHS Fife and Public Health Scotland and the current situation has been fully risk assessed.

"The advice we have received is that the school can continue to operate safely.

"I'd like to offer you a reassurance that we won't take any undue risks and we will not hesitate to close the school if at any time we need to do so on public health grounds."
