Former Raith Rovers Chairman Dies

It's been confirmed Turnbull Hutton has died following a short illness.

The former drinks industry boss is credited with steering the ship after the Kirkcaldy club's financial problems in the 2005-06 season.

He stepped down as chairman in November after announcing a 20% rise in turnover, with the club fresh from its Challenge Cup success.

Mr Hutton came to national prominence as a vocal opponent of letting Rangers into the old First Division after the Ibrox Club's liquidation, the Gers were placed in the bottom tier.

He was recently diagnosed with leukaemia and had been admitted to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh just over a week ago.

In a statement, the club said: "Our thoughts are with his family, particularly his wife Margo, his son Neil and daughter Lindsey and all his many friends in football and business. He will be sorely missed.

"Today, we are all Turnbull Hutton."
