Flyers' Tommy Back For Muir

Thomas Muir is the latest Fife Flyer to return to the club for next season.

The defenceman was voted Most Improved Player and British Player of the Year by fans at the club's End of Season Awards Night last year.

The 28 year old has been with the the Flyers since starting his career in Kirkcaldy in the BNL in 2001/2, and has been with the club since then, playing in the BNL, NPIHL and EIHL for the past 3 seasons. Muir has a reputation for being a no nonsense hard hitting defenceman player who looks out for his team mates.

Muir is "happy to be back".

He said: "It really is a pleasure to come back and play in Kirkcaldy for another season. I grew up here and being able to play in my home town in front of the fans is a real honour.”

“Reading all the guys comments about last season and how they feel about coming back just shows how proud we all were and how we just want to get back on the ice and start where we left off last season. The run we had at the end of the season was amazing, and is definitely one of the highlights of my career.”

“It has been a long summer and I am keen to get back on the ice and get the season underway. There was a real buzz in the room and on the ice at the end of the season, as well as in the crowd, it would be great to start the 2014/15 campaign in the same way.”

Associate Coach Danny Stewart added “Tommy was a huge part of our success down the stretch last season and really found his game at this level. He became a guy we could rely on night in night out and when he competes the way he does and plays smart defensively, he improves our back end and gives us another reliable guy back there.”

Head Coach Todd Dutiaume added “Tommy has steadily developed over the past three seasons but last year he really came into his own. We relied on his steady defensive performances that he produced night in and night out and fully deserved his season ending award. I expect the same from Tommy during the forthcoming campaign.”
