Flyers: Rhioux Signs

Nicholas Rhioux

Fife Flyers have confirmed the signing of Nicholas Rhioux from AHL side Iowa Wild.

The 28-year-old Canadian defenceman spent last season with both the Quad City Mallards in the ECHL and Iowa Wild in the AHL. The solid and consistent D-man ended the season with 4 goals & 19 assists, for 23 points from 69 games.

This will be Rioux’s first season playing in the UK and he said: "I’m excited to get to Scotland and get the season underway. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the organization and the fans. I’m ready to get on the ice and win some games!”

Flyers Head Coach Todd Dutiaume added “Rounding off our defensive signings and completing our line-up is Nicolas Rioux - a solid and steady well rounded defenceman.”

“After having a number of conversations with Nick it was apparent that he was going to be a great fit for us, and adding him to our existing D-core I now feel we have one of our strongest and most versatile back ends since we joined the league.”

“His experience and consistent performances will provide us with much more depth and dependability back there.”

“We now look forward to getting this group together and getting things underway.”
