Five Fife student nurses tackle step challenge for mental health charity

Five mental health nursing students are fundraising to support a local charity.

Emma-Jane, Jodie, Stef, Kat and Kayleigh are all aiming to walk two million steps throughout May as a group to raise funds for Andys Man Club in Fife.

Their aim is to raise £1,500 pounds and have so far hit the target of £530.

The girls are also planning to hold a raffle with prizes ranging from meal prep packages, food and drink vouchers, health and beauty and a car valet.

Emma-Jane came up with the idea after losing someone close to her who took their own life.

Kat, who is also taking part in the challenge, explains why they all decided to get involved:

In 2019, men aged 45-49 had the highest suicide rate with 25.5 deaths per 100,000. while men accounted for three-quarters of suicides during that year.

Andys Man Club was established in 2016 after the loss of Andrew Roberts, aged 23. They offer a confidential space for men to come together and chat about anything they'd like too.
