First Minister Backs Chief Constable

Nicola Sturgeon says Sir Stephen House is helping ensure low crime levels.

The First Minister says she still has "full confidence" in Police Scotland's Chief Constable after it emerged data on controversial stop and search procedures was wrong.

Sir Stephen House said his force had to put the details out because of a Freedom of Information request.

Among the figures for stopping under 12 year olds was an incident involving a one year old child in Fife.

He also revealed at a meeting with the Scottish Police Authority that some data had been lost.

A review of stop and search is already underway with a report due to go to the Justice Secretary by the end of next month and Nicola Sturgeon says "Stephen House is leading a police force that is helping to ensure that we have low crime levels in this country."
