Firm in Fife wins two major new contracts

A firm at Fife Energy Park in Methil has secured two major new contracts.

In one of the deals, International Testing Services will take care of the provision of Inspection Services for its neighbour, Harland & Wolff Methil.

It's for the fabrication of the eight offshore wind farm jacket foundations for the Neart na Gaorithe offshore wind farm.

The other one is for a European leader in offshore wind farm foundation and tower fabrication.

Business Gateway Fife says that inspection services provided can improve product quality, maintain compliance with recognised standards and ensure the integrity of a project.

A wide range of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection methods are being used including conventional Ultrasonic Testing, Phased Array Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection and Visual Inspection.

The continued expansion of the business has seen the number of employees increase to 14 in the last year from two in the start-up phase.

George Shields, the company's Quality Director, said: "We are really encouraged by the quality of staff we have managed to secure and now we have recruited two apprentices, both from Levenmouth, who will be trained up to being fully qualified NDT inspectors.

"We have more than doubled our head office size in recent months.

"The projects which we have supported this year will generate approximately 2500 MW/h of clean renewable energy, that’s approximately enough for around 1.5 million homes.

"We are feeling really confident about the future of the business, bolstered by the excellent team we are building, to meet the ever-changing demands of the industry."
