Final chance for golf fans to apply for tickets for 150th Open in St Andrews

Golf fans only have days left to apply for tickets to come to The 150th Open at St Andrews.

Around 1.2 million applications for tickets have been made since the ticket ballot launched in July.

Entering the ticket ballot is the only way for fans to potentially secure a place at the renowned Old Course in the town to see the world’s best golfers in action next year.

The tournament is taking place next July.

A ballot was launched for the first time to allow as many fans as possible the chance to register for tickets.

The R&A says fans can still register their details through The One Club to submit their ticket application before the ballot closes next Monday at 12noon (UK time).

There is also a very high level of demand for hospitality packages and Origins Hospitality experiences are set to completely sell out on Championship Days.

Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director – Championships at The R&A, said: "We want to ensure that as many fans as possible have a chance to be a part of this momentous occasion at St Andrews next year and so we are reminding them that the deadline for the ticket ballot is fast approaching.

"While we have already received thousands of ticket applications from throughout the UK and around the world, the ballot process ensures that everyone has a fair and equitable opportunity to secure a ticket for The 150th Open.

"The excitement is building for what will be a marvellous celebration and another remarkable milestone in the history of one of the world’s great sporting events."
