Fifers Urged To "Get Their Baffies Out"

Shelter Scotland want Fifers to wear their slippers to work

Nearly 5 thousand children in Scotland will wake up on Christmas Day without a home.  Shelter Scotland hope to help the plight of these children with their campaign "Slippers for Shelter".

Fifers are being encouraged to donate £3 and wear their slippers to work, school or even the shops on Friday 4th December .

They can also get involved by taking a "slipper selfie" and posting it online with #baffiesforshelter.

And creative parents can help their children to decorate the baffies for extra festiveness.

Alison Watson, deputy director of Shelter Scotland, said:

"Not a single child should be homeless, especially at Christmas, so the fact that in 21st Century Scotland nearly 5,000 children will wake up without a home on Christmas Day just goes to show the devastating depths our housing crisis has reached.

“We urge the public to get behind this campaign, slip their feet into a comfy pair of baffies and in turn take a step towards helping children and their families towards securing a safe and secure home. Your donation could be the difference between a family losing their home and keeping it. We want to be there for every family that needs us.

“Simply wear your baffies on Friday 4th December and help us make sure no call for help goes unanswered this Christmas.”

Last December, Shelter Scotland’s helpline and local advice centres helped thousands of families battling with bad housing and homelessness, providing support and advice to help them find and keep a home."
