People in Fife are among those being recognised in the New Year Honours list.

Across Scotland, a variety of people have been honoured for the help they have provided to others during the coronavirus pandemic.

Well known names have also been recognised across the UK, including seven time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who is being knighted.

Meanwhile, in the Kingdom, 83-year-old David Adamson from Burntisland is getting a British Empire Medal.

It's for services to athletics and to the community in the town.

David was Chieftain for the Burntisland Highland Games for more than a decade.

He also opened that event as Honorary Chieftain on a couple of occasions.

David says he is taken aback by becoming a recipient of a BEM:

Also being honoured is funeral director John Gilfillan from Cardenden.

The 66-year-old is also receiving a British Empire Medal.

He is being recognised for services to the bereaved and to the community in Benarty.

John says he is thinking about families who have lost loved ones during a difficult 2020 and is surprised that he is receiving a BEM:
