Fifers Asked To Get Creative For Cancer

The campaign is being run in conjunction with Channel 4

Around 3 Scots are diagnosed every hour with cancer.

That is according to a major charity who've launched a fundraising campaign to boost funds for medical research. Cancer Research has launched 'Stand Up to Cancer' and are urging as many people as possible to get creative in how they fundraise.

A free fundraising kit is available to help spark creative ideas and provide support. Supporters of all ages can literally stand up and get sponsored, choosing exactly how, when and where they make their stand. Alternatively, they might choose to wear a ridiculous bottom half for the day with the ‘Crazy Legs’ challenge, or cook up some cash by conjuring up culinary delights and selling them at work or school.

Lisa Adams, Cancer Research UK’s spokeswoman in Scotland, said: "We’ve made amazing progress against cancer in the past few decades. Thanks to new treatments, screening and earlier diagnosis, more people are surviving the disease than ever before. Advances in technology have revolutionised cancer research, and we know more about the disease than ever.

"Money raised by Stand Up To Cancer is helping change the face of cancer research by funding clinical trials. Thanks to clinical trials we are able to test new and improved treatments and get them to the people who need them most. One in two people in the UK will develop cancer at some point in their lives and with cancer incidence set to rise steeply by 2030, there’s still much more to do to ensure no-one’s life is cut short.  That’s why we need everyone to join us and make a stand against cancer now."
