Fife Young Carers call for employers to be more understanding of the caring role

Fife Young Carers has called on employers to be more understanding of the caring role.

The organisation supports children and young people between the ages of 8 and 25 who take care of someone in their family with an illness or disability.

Today is Young Carers Action Day, with the Carers Trust saying it's an annual day recognising the contribution young carers make to their families and local communities.

Young carers have been highlighting the skills they have developed including empathy, resilience and time management.

Amber Reid, Development Worker for Fife Young Carers, has told Kingdom FM that young carers have lost work due to the impact of their caring duties:
