Fife Sports and Leisure Trust facilities to remain closed

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust says its facilities will remain closed due to new government restrictions to tackle coronavirus.

All of the trusts indoor and outdoor facilities are affected until at least the end of January.

It says the closure will remain in effect until the Scottish Government says sports facilities can reopen.

The trust is launching a new free-to-access online fitness timetable similar to one it operated during the first lockdown.

The sessions will be available online from Monday the 11th of January.

The trust's outreach programmes to help those with long-term health conditions will continue.

Emma Walker, chief executive for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We are very disappointed to be in a situation where we once again have to close all our facilities."

"we know from our customer surveys that local communities had enjoyed being able to get back and be physically active, safely, in our centres."

“The availability of community leisure facilities are crucial for the health and wellbeing of people of all ages and abilities, and, as we have been operating with the highest levels of health and safety measures in place, we are confident that we can open our facilities as soon as possible when allowed. "

“I would encourage people to visit the trust’s website for details of our free, online fitness sessions which are available from our highly-qualified instructors. These sessions were extremely popular during the first lockdown and they allow people to benefit from the health and mental wellbeing benefits of getting active.”
