Fife School To Open

Burntisland Primary School will be officially opened later by the outgoing MP Gordon Brown.

The Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath representative will cut the ribbon where he'll be joined by staff and pupils.

The school, which was completed earlier this year, opened in August and has a pupil roll of more than 500.

It can accommodate 650 pupils and 160 nursery pupils.

There are 21 classrooms within the school, along with a number of flexible teaching spaces in three wings with a central hub looking into the main hall.

Julie Anderson, Headteacher of Burntisland Primary School and herself a former pupil said:

"We have a strong sense of family and community here and the message is very much that our school is at the heart of the community, working in partnership with families and other community groups and organisations.

"Our school is and has always been much loved in the local community but we had long outgrown our old building. This beautiful, new space will inspire us and future generations to learn and achieve and will be as dearly loved as our old one.

"We are all very proud and honoured to be able to work and learn in these surroundings.

"Burntisland is a school of excellence and ambition and now we have the building to match."
