Fife primary school linked with several coronavirus cases shut due to staff shortage

A primary school in Fife linked with several coronavirus cases has closed due to a shortage of staff.

Pathhead Primary in Kirkcaldy has had nine cases of the virus linked with it during the last fortnight.

Fife Council said a number of teachers are self-isolating or waiting on the results of Covid-19 tests.

There won't be a re-opening of the school tomorow.

The local authority also said the school will inform parents on contingency plans, including for remote learning.

The council's head of education and children's services Maria Lloyd said: "Unfortunately, Pathhead Primary has had to close today as we have a number of teachers who are isolating or waiting on the results of Covid-19 tests.

"Each school has its own contingency plans in place, including plans for remote learning, which are continually reviewed.

"Parents will be updated by the school on contingency plans and if circumstances change."
