Fife Poppy Volunteers Needed 'Urgently'

Tayport and Ladybank urgently need area organisers

A veterans charity says poppies won't be available in Ladybank and Tayport this year - unless more volunteers are found.

Poppyscotland are looking for area organisers to arrange sales and raise as much money as possible. Donations from poppy sales funds employment, health and mobility services for ex-soldiers. Around £2,000 in donations is raised collectively from those areas.

An area organiser fulfils a vital role by ensuring that poppies are available in their local area during the campaign. Collectors are needed too, to help distribute poppies and get involved in street, shop and house to house collections.

Poppyscotland’s Volunteer Development Manager, Isla Campbell-Lupton, said: "We rely on an army of volunteers to organise the Scottish Poppy Appeal and their support makes a real difference to the lives of veterans and their families. The people of Ladybank and Tayport have been very generous in supporting the Appeal in the past and we really need volunteers to get involved to ensure there will be poppy collections in these areas this year."
