Fife Man Running 'Alphabet Of Marathons' For Charity

Jim is running the length of the Great Wall of China

A 57-year old Fifer is running an alphabet of marathons to raise money for the Kingdom's countryside.

Jim Taylor is aiming to run 26 races - one for each letter of the alphabet - before his 60th birthday, all in aid of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust.

His 7th challenge - the letter G - is the Great Wall of China. He has already run the Athens, Berlin and Florence marathons as well as Caen in France, Dundee and Eden Project in Cornwall.

Taylor was a leading bodybuilder as a young man, but was embarrassed when runners challenged him to a fitness contest and he fell over exhausted after a couple of hundred yards.

Amanda McFarlane, Chief Executive of the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, said:

"It is fantastic that Jim has decided to raise funds for us in such an amazing fashion. He is a real inspiration and we are delighted that he has been able to use the Fife Coastal Path to train for his latest marathon.

"It is great for Jim but it is also a wonderful setting for families to enjoy healthy outdoor walks, for dog walkers to exercise their pets in beautiful surroundings and for everyone to get out and enjoy the great outdoors."

The Great Wall of China marathon takes place on May 16th. Donations to Jim can be made through Justgiving.
