Exclusive: Fife Foodbank Use Doubles

Foodbank use in Fife has increased almost twice as much as the rest of Scotland.

The Trussell Trust says its bases in Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Leven and Cupar helped 4,314 people in the six months from April to September.

That's up 246 percent, while the average for Scotland is 124 percent.

A total of 51,647 in Scotland have needed a three-day food donation in the past six months, 15,424 of them children.

The true figure for the Kingdom is likely higher, as it doesn't include Kirkcaldy's foodbank and other individual help points.
