Man arrested over image which 'mocked George Floyd'

Police in Fife have arrested a 26-year-old man - after an image was shared on social media appearing to show two people mocking George Floyd.

Mr Floyd - an unarmed black man - died after he was knelt on by a police officer in Minneapolis last week.

The officer who allegedly killed Mr Floyd has been charged with third-degree murder.

The incident has sparked protests across the world, and a renewed focus on race issues in America and elsewhere.

An image, seen by Kingdom FM, was shared on a social media platform yesterday. It showed a man - reported to be from Fife - kneeling above another person who was lying on the floor.

The man had his knee placed on top of the person's head, and he was looking at the camera while flexing both his arms.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers in Fife have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with an image relating to the death in the United States of George Floyd which has been circulating on social media.

"Inquiries into the incident, which was reported to Police Scotland yesterday, are ongoing.”
