Fife Campaign for Living Wage

A campaign in Fife promoting fair pay wants 100% of Fife businesses to pay a living wage.

The National Living Wage outlined in the George Osborne's latest budget will not come into full effect until 2020 and will only effect over 25s.

Fife Living Wage Group believe a living wage would be good for employees, employers and the community.

Chris Wilde, founder of the Fife Living Wage Group, said: "Take for example somewhere like Leven, where a lot of school leavers don't go on to further education or to university, these people are going straight into work.

"If they're going into work and they're not getting paid the living wage - if they're only getting paid the minimum wage - a lot of these young people are struggling to move out of their parents home, they're struggling to rent properties, they're struggling to buy things.

"It benefits businesses it benefits people and it can help us to put more money back into our economy and get our economy in fife really moving. I personally hope for 100% of businness paying the living wage, that's my aim and I'll keep working to achieve that."
