Fife Anti Litter Campaign Wins Two Awards

A project to cut levels of litter around six high schools has been honoured by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

A Fife Council campaign to cut litter around high schools has been given two environmental awards.

The authority monitored the problem at six schools between March 2013 and February 2014 and used things like social networking to encourage kids to put rubbish away in a more responsible fashion.

Their "Keep Fife Schools Bang Tidy" campaign has been named Programme of the Year by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

The project also won the Best Local Environmental Quality Innovation Award.

After presenting the awards, Keep Scotland Beautiful Chief Executive, Derek Robertson commented:

"These awards recognise the very highest level of environmental achievement amongst land managers across the country and the winners have every reason to be proud of what they have achieved.

"I hope that this year's winners will inspire others to improve the quality of their local environment."
