Fife Active Schools Ambassadors Lead The Way In Sport

It's hoped the ambassadors will encourage fitness in schools

Over 100 new Active Schools ambassadors, representing all of Fife’s high schools, are on their way to becoming the next generation of effective sport leaders in their school and local community.

Established five years ago, the ambassador programme is a nationwide programme supported by SportScotland.

It is designed to develop young leaders who can inspire and motivate others to take part in sport and physical activity.

Within Fife there are now almost 200 Active Schools Ambassadors across all 19 high schools.

Executive Committee member Cllr Mark Hood thinks that the ambassadors play a crucial role in their local community. He said: “The work the ambassadors do is hugely commendable. In an average academic year they often dedicate over 100 hours of volunteering each. They are essential in the planning and running of extracurricular clubs, festival and holiday camps across Fife and champion the positives of being and staying active.”
